Doug sent me these shots of his
setup, I love the John Deere Collection Machine!!
He has a nice setup with the
collection pump too! He wrote this
to me
Our
evaporator is 30"x10'. As you can see, it is pretty ancient, and so not
nearly as efficient as a newer one with modern pans. We would like to replace
them, but that's in the future. You know how that goes. :)

The
Gator does work really well for collecting. It's flat enough here that
we don't have to worrying about spilling much, but we also then have to pump
into our storage tanks. We used to pull a trailer behind a small tractor with
just the barrel in it, but when we got to 100 taps this year we needed
more carrying capacity. Another advantage to the Gator is that it does
less damage to the woods. We are going to switch to two galvanized
tanks next year, to cut collecting time a bit more.
